New Rules for Union Email Distribution: A Blow to Transparency and the Vitality of Social Dialogue

CFDT denounces the gradual disappearance of a calm and constructive working climate between management and trade unions, replaced by a logic of constraints and mistrust.

SOCIAL DialogUE : A NECESSARY EVIL?

Social dialogue refers to exchanges between employers and employees through their representatives.

For some members of management, it is a lever for collective performance and social cohesion. For others, it remains a necessary evil…

But necessary in what way?

It’s hard not to question this when union emails must now comply with stricter distribution rules. Blame the professional elections? No, because these rules will remain in place permanently.

NEW RULES FOR UNION EMAILS

A “neutral” subject line and email body, attachments just as “neutral”…

Enough to make these messages even less appealing in an already saturated communication flow.

So why these constraints?
Perhaps to ensure that official messages from management take priority? And beware of any slip-ups: sanctions apply, with union communications suspended for a week, even a month.

Recent example: a one-week suspension for using “Retirement Webinar” instead of “Retirement,” or “Summary of Our 2025 Actions” instead of simply “Summary.”

CFDT is deeply concerned that yesterday’s constructive dialogue is giving way to practices that weaken social relations.
